The walking and hiking routes of Pazin are marked by hiking marks (white dots with red edge) and signs that mark alternative routes.

The routes are arranged by the members of the hiking society "Pazinka" from Pazin on the occasion of 125th anniversary of organized hiking in Pazin and Istria.

Educational walking path Pazin Cave
The Cave of Pazin is the most picturesque example of natural forces at work on the karst Istrian terrain. Under the walls of a thousand year old Pazin Castle, right on the border of the ''grey'' and ''red'' Istria, the biggest Istrian stream Pazinčica makes its flow through the underground all the way to the valley of the river Raša. Perhaps it continues its flow even to reach the gulf of Lim, as once wrote the famous novelist Jules Verne in his ''Matijaš Sandorf''. Such remarkable scenery has inspired many other writers (Nazor, Dante, Yriarte…), so You definitely won't be let uninspired

The educational walking path long 1300 m starts on Bridge Vršić nearby the Castle and leads you through the beautiful natural canyon until you reach the banks of Pazinčica where you start a gentle winding climb up to ''Piramida''(Pyramid) lookout and on to the terrace of the Hotel Lovac, where you can admire the stunning panorama. The sightseeing is individual, without the guide, which is why there are notice boards in different foreign languages along the path where you can learn more on rain phenomenon, hydrography, the flora of the abyss, legends, researches and brave explorers.

The underground sightseeing is included in the route but, in case of favourable weather conditions along with a timely notification, it can be organized with the necessary guide of the local cavers. In order to have one You need to contact Speleološko društvo Istra (The association of Istrian cavers) www.sdi.hr

TICKET PRICE: 30 KN
MONDAY free entry. Winter months free entry.

NOTE: It is strictly forbidden and also dangerous to walk over the marked paths as well as to go down to the streambed and the abyss hatch
