How to reach us?

povećaj

From Rijeka and Buzet: Leaving the “Istrian Ypsilon” motorway, take the Exit “Pazin istok” (Pazin East). Drive towards the centre of Pazin, and after the petrol station take a left in the direction of Labin. After about 2.5 km turn left, following the road signs to Žminj.

From Pula, Poreč, Rovinj and Vrsar: Take the “Istrian Ypsilon” motorway to the Žminj Exit. Continue straight to the centre of Žminj and then take a left onto the road leading to Pazin. Leaving Žminj, you will see our sign indicating a right turn towards Lindarski Katun.

Lindarski Katun

Our establishment is located in Lindarski Katun, about 3 kilometres from Žminj in the Pazin district. Shepherds, who found rich pastures for their flocks here, were the first to inhabit Lindarski Katun in the 15th century. The pastures were gradually fenced in with walls of stone, and numerous dry-stone walls and kažuns (small stone houses built by shepherds) can still be found throughout the entire region. Today the village has a population of about 100. There are only a few who are still engaged in cattle breeding and milk production, or farming. The majority of people work in various trades and crafts.

Welcome to Ograde

Our farm is located at the edge of the village, and covers an area of 13,000 square metres. Long ago, it was fenced in by dry-stone walls. The shepherds called it “Ograde” (fences) and it has kept this name ever since.

We have the greatest affection for animals, nature and agriculture, and we invite you to be our guests and share this affection with us. Although our horses are the pride of our farm, we show the same care for our ducks and geese, chickens and turkeys, pheasants, pigeons, cats and dogs…

For those of you who wish to spend your vacation on our farm and experience the charms of an authentic farmyard, we have two facilities, which can accommodate 12 – 14 people.

Cottage accommodations

The first is a stand-alone rustic cottage for 6 – 8 people. It has a spacious living room with a fireplace, satellite television and a sofa-bed. The kitchen is equipped with a gas/electric stove and oven, a coffee machine, refrigerator and freezer, and all necessary kitchen utensils. The cottage has three double rooms (two with twin beds), a bathroom with a shower, and two toilets. A door leads directly onto the terrace and lawn, and the yard has parking space for several cars. The cottage is well suited for families with children, or for handicapped persons with supervision.

Holiday flat accommodations

Our second facility is a holiday flat in our family house. With modern furnishing, the holiday flat has three double rooms (one with a twin bed), a living room (satellite TV), a kitchen (complete with a small electric stove, refrigerator, coffee machine), bathroom and toilet. The kitchen and one bedroom open onto balconies. Parking space is provided in the courtyard.

Catering offer

For the needs of our establishment, we produce a wide range of food products in a traditional and natural way. The best place to savour these almost forgotten “flavours of yore” is in our stone konoba (wine-cellar), sitting around the fireplace. Our konoba can seat 25 – 30 people and is open on request.

Activities on the farm

  • Horse-riding
Take a guided horseback ride through woods and fields (recreational riding only). Our horses have a gentle nature making them perfect for children, for persons with special needs or for anyone who has never tried to ride a horse. Or take a ride in a horse-drawn carriage. Please be sure to call and make arrangements several days in advance.

  • Farm chores

Guests staying at our farm, as well as day-visitors, are invited to take part in farm chores such as:

Stable cleaning and horse grooming (riding free-of-charge)

Farming activities (depending on the season) such as planting, hoeing, harvesting, fruit picking and hay-making (lunch or dinner included).

  • Workshops (upon request)
    Cooking traditional meals
    Preparing provisions for the winter
    Wool spinning
    Basket weaving

  • Bicycling

Our region is especially suited to recreational and family bicycling along paved roads or along a network of country roads and trails through woods and fields.

  • Hiking
Our farm is on the very edge of the village and just a step away from the great outdoors, which holds an array of trials and paths for hiking.
